U17 World Hockey Challenge - USNDTP U17 | by David Burstyn One day before the USA won the World Junior Hockey Tournament in Saskatoon, Team USA's U17 squad was also victorious on Canadian soil winning the U17 Hockey Challenge in Timmins Ontario with a 2-1 win over Team Ontario. U17 World Hockey Challenge - Team Russia | by David Burstyn The Russians had an ok tournament but in the end they were unable to beat any of the teams that medalled. Losses to Sweden, USA and Canada resulted in a fourth place finish. If the team had Nail Yakabov, a top 1993-born prospect, they may have fared slightly better. McKeen's Director of Scouting David Burstyn looks at a handful of Russian prospects.[more]
Galvanizing Galiev | by Rick Springhetti Last season, the Saint John Sea Dogs traded away some of their best talent to load up for 2009-10 and really make a run for the Presidents cup. Thus far, the plan is working very well. At one point, the team had a 22-game winning streak from the beginning of November until the beginning of January. Rookie sensation Stanislav Galiev (pictured), has not disappointed and should be a first round pick at the upcoming NHL Entry draft. McKeen's correspondent Rick Springhett looks at a well-stacked Saint John Sea Dogs team.[more]
Indiana's 'O' Has Great 'D' | by Kevin Wey The Indiana Ice aren't scoring a lot of goals by USHL standards this season (they had only 107 in 35 games), but they're giving up even less (102), and a lot of that comes down the defensive effort by their young forwards. McKeen's correspondent Kevin Wey looks at several Indiana Ice forwards including Los Angeles Kings prospect Nic Dowd (pictured). [more]
