The NHL has imposed a $2,500. fine on Nucks Darcy Hordichuk for his hit on Jared Boll during the Nucks/BJ's tilt the other night. Hordichuk received a two minute roughing penalty on the play.
As always, I have something to say but this time will wait for others to go first.
I always hate hits from behind Thrash - though I'm not sure about this one for only one reason - Boll was hit by Rypien first and falling, Hordi hit him immediately after that. Boll changed directions quickly so I can see if Hordi didn't see him - though I still think he should have let up.
I'm not a fan of a $2,500 fine for this kind of thing - either suspend the guy or make it nothing. As always, the NHL is a bit of a joke when it comes to punishment. I still would really like to see any hits to the head made suspendable offenses, whether they are shoulder to the head like the jackass Phaneuf always does (and like Scott Stevens always did) or whether they are like Hordi's.

I think all hits to the head should be severely punished...
I'm having a tough time deciding on this hit, it might be because we've already seen much more serious hits to the head go unpunished this year...The Phaneuf elbow to the head of Sedin in game 1 of the season didn't draw 2 minutes as an example...
On another note, watching the video you've got to be concerned over the weight gain on Hitchcock...
Remembering his past, it looks like he is again struggling to get to a healthy weight....
