Carlyle did well in sitting his top players on their last PP, in fact i think he had the fourth line on the PP. Getzlaf i can understand is still recovering a bit from his surgery, but where were the other guys, especially Perry?
Rangers had it easy, Valiquette had so little work to do. Yet, it was a good sign that the Rangers did not sit back and still didn't allow the Ducks to get many shots through, or even keep the puck on the offense.
I thought Giguere deserved better, despite three posts, but he played very well. Rangers skated hard from start to finish and in the end that's what you want to see from your team regardless how strong, or weak, the opposition played.
Overall, Rangers showed up, Ducks did not.
Stars at Canucks:
Nucks got a bit lucky. They still have issues finishing off a game when leading. They have glimpses of great play at both ends of the ice and then they drop their performances by playing laid back hockey. They still need to work on skating for 60 minutes. You can't play good hockey for a full 60 minutes, it's very hard, but you sure as hell can skate hard and give better effort. I like Burrows a lot, but that was an awful backcheck on a ROOKIE. Also, do Nucks fans cheer Luongo's name (Luuuuuuuu) with every save he makes no matter how easy and simple the save is? That's annoying. I thought Sedin was the best player on the ice for the entire game.
Stars tried to win, but their defensive breakdowns are too costly. It could be an issue throughout the season. It doesn't seem as if it is the group of d-men that can fix those. This guy Jamie Benn was impressive, i like his spunk and aggressiveness on offensive approaches. The Stars did well in taking advantage of Vancouver's laziness, and got a nice point, but it won't happen often.
Overall, the Nucks should have won this game in regulation. Two points is two points, but the gift wrapped one point for Dallas.
And i was pulling for a Vancouver win, actually, just so to say "Bobby Does Dallas".

I don't know about Crawford, he spends more time yelling at the refs and for what, it's not like they are going to change their decision. He needs to focus more on coaching, helping Wilson with the defense and giving Brunnstrom more minutes. I bet we see more of ?former Ranger? Auld, didn't he come up with the Shirts.
Ducks hung close for 2 periods and that was all Giguere, Rangers skated all night like you said, that game could have been 5 or 6 to nothing. Torts sat Voros and I bet it was for that late penalty against Washington. Avery is on the "short lease" but they win with him in the line-up.

For the Ducks it was the 3rd road game in 4 nights.

looked like Niedemeyer had a bad game. Rangers much more prepared for this one. Avery looked effective, and rangers look like they're having a good start.
nucks - they are definitely adjusting to daniel sedin's absence. still Henrik played well. by the 1/2 way point, team really looked vulnerable - can't say so much that it was laziness, i think Salo's injury so early really screwed with them - being down to 5 dmen, and already without Demitra, Hansen, Schnieder. i think i speak for all nuck fans - i'm sick and tired of Salo's injuries - guy can get hurt even without any contact now. it really screws with your game plan, since he plays top 4 minutes. i can't wait till schneider is back...maybe rome comes in to help now. good thing there is depth on Defence this year.
bringing up rookie Desbiens made the 3rd line absolutely useless as bernier was moved to the top line - i would've moved up samuelsson - who had a good game till the 3rd where everyone looked either tired or listless. raymond looked off today despite a good start to the season so far. louie looked good i thought - first was a fluke goal tapped in by his own player rypien (dont guys know NOT to touch the puck on the way to your own net??) - 2nd goal was an amazing skill move by Richards. 3rd was sloppy effort by the forwards, no chance on that back door play there.
long break now, for fans and the nucks. hope daniel is back in 3-4 weeks instead of 6.

Auld is not a former Ranger. He was a Florida draft pick, traded to Vancouver and then brilliantly traded back to Florida with Keenan thinking that he can be just as good as Luongo.
Then Auld kinda went around....
It was either Voros or Lisin to sit for Avery, and Lisin has shown too much potential to sit. The guy was actually good on the defensive end, so he is learning. His speed is too valuable to sit.

It's no reason to show a piss poor effort though. They had the PP's too, not like they didn't have chances to revive the game, and Giguere kept it 0-0 for 40+ minutes. Carlyle should be fuming.

Yeah a lot of factors that disrupted the game last night, but it is a trend that i've seen with the Nucks since Game 1. They go on a roller coaster ride throughout the game. Whenever they slow down the play or just dump the puck too quickly, they get into trouble. They have to keep working hard on the forecheck and keep he puck on their sticks. I think Dallas had the puck the last 10 minutes of the 3rd period.
They asked for trouble and they got it.
But hey, two points thanks to Luongo in the SO. This is the kind of "bad win" that you forget by tomorrow. Why? They won, so who the hell cares?!
