Bruins traded a 3rd and conditional 4th to Buffalo for Daniel Paille last night.
Neely said this morning that he is a guy they have had their eye on for close to 3 years now. Chiarelli said he is a guy that they feel simply needs to be in a different situation. He said Kessel was that guy here in Boston, playing in a system that may not have maximized his talents, and Bruin brass believe Paille to be that same type. Should perform well in a straight ahead role and used in a heavy forecheck system.
Early belief is that once he gets comfortable in Bruin system, he will skate with either Savard or Bergeron. Neely said he thinks he can put be a 25-30 goal player with guys like Savard and Ryder. But also said he plays the same game as Bergeron and Marchand and that would be a very effective 2nd/3rd line.
First ever trade between Bruins and Sabres.

I've watched Paille so many times since he started out with the Sabres. He's 20 goals tops. Pretty much could make up for Kobasew's goals. Good player, though, so good trade.

nice move - get guys in that fit your system. Wings have done that well for a decade.
guys like Neely, chara, lucic etc etc - would they have excelled as much in other systems? Boston fits them perfectly.

Could well be that thats his upside.
I only know 2 things...Neely LOVES this kid, and see's good things in him. And #2, he came out and inserted himself into the action last night against the Preds. Nice assist on the game winning goal by Steve Begin.
He was as advertised. Follows through on all of his checks, good hands, very aggressive on the forecheck, immediately on BRuins top PK unit.
Not an earth shattering trade, but one that brings a cheaper version of the guy who moved on.
Incidentally....Brad Marchand is going to be a player!

Chara did do pretty well in Ottawa's system for the longest time... as Ottawa found out the hard way when he left. ;) (but yes I see what you mean and agree).
