Kidding aside, this is quite an intriguing story that is getting no attention. Carolina came out strong in the first period against the Panthers, especially on the PPs, but man o man........after that first intermission i did not see one Hurricane player do anything right. The Panthers have been playing very well as of late, but nothing like this. I felt bad for the Canes d-men, they were getting harassed a lot.
So, something has to happen in Carolina. Here's an idea! Fire Maurice and hire Laviolette! Hey, it worked before when it happened vice versa. But really, something needs to be done. I am not sure if it is lack of effort or just playing very weakly. This is 10 games in a row without a win. Something must be going on.
If this keeps up, would you fire Maurice?
You know what? I wouldn't. These players have it way too easy when tuning out a coach. It's time for the players to take accountability. Obviously you don't trade the key players on the team, such as Eric Staal, and Cam Ward, and..........and........andughh........... yeah. But anyone else is tradable.
I guess this gives the Leafs some relief that as of now, the Boston Bruins decreased their chances of landing 1st overall ;)

Hockey is a fine line between winning and loosing at the NHL level. The Leafs could have easily won there last 5 starts and nobody would have blinked an eye as they out played there opponents. The good news is they found ways to get points but no W's were posted on the board. Any slight improvements to goaltending for Toronto and or improved goal scoring capabilties from Kessel will pay good dividends. Clearly the team has bottomed out and is back on the rise......
With Carolina Im watching a team go the opposite direction.
Carolina is a semi-final team from last year........perhaps they believed that they were better then they really were. Perhaps they forgot about how hard it was to get there. Perhaps they really suck and are being exposed? They are not getting last years goaltending performace out of Ward and it is showing up very clearly. Staal who is sucking baloney was on pace for a 40 point season and is now injured. It is a shame when a 40+ year old player in Whitney is leading the team in points...... that is all I have to say about that.
